Walking With Wisdom - Proverbs - Guest Speaker, Pastor Mandy Kasper
Thursday Sep 05, 2019
Thursday Sep 05, 2019
Scripture Proverbs 4:1-9 (NIV)
“Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
Pay attention and gain understanding.
I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.
When I was a boy in my father’s house,
Still tender, and an only child of my mother,
He taught me and said: “Lay hold of my words with all your heart;
Keep my commands and you will live.
Get wisdom, get understanding;
Do not forget my words or swerve from them.
Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
Love her, and she will watch over you.
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Esteem her and she will exalt you;
Embrace her, and she will honour you.
She will set a garland of grace on your head
And present you with a crown of splendor.”
This message centers around six ways to gain more wisdom
1. Study the scriptures
2. Spend copious amounts of time in prayer
3. Listen to your life
4. Surround yourself with wise people
5. Learn to ask more questions than you give answers
6. Ask for wisdom. Ask from God.

We encourage you to share this podcast message with your family and friends. Remember, you are the light of the world! Share the good news of Salvation of Jesus with others. His gift is made to be given so others can be transformed as they find the truth in Him. We encourage you to live out your faith actively by serving in your community, by studying your Bible every day, by feeding yourself with spiritual truths. We encourage you to guard your heart, your eyes, all your senses of all the things that are contaminating this world. Set yourself apart from the things that can make you fall into bad habits or bad behaviours. If you are not connected to a church, be part of a local church, so you can be prayed for, supported, listen to, and encouraged to walk like Christ. May Jesus Christ be seen through the Holy Spirit in you in all the areas of influence God has put you in your life. If you do not know Jesus, God says through his written Word, The Bible, that "Today is the day of Salvation" So, we invite you to pray this prayer with faith and let us know of your decision to accept Christ in your heart:
"Dear God, I admit that I am a sinner, that I need a saviour, and I believe that you send your only Son, Jesus Christ to live in this world to teach me the way I need to live. I believe Jesus died on a cross to pay the penalty of my sins. I believe he resurrected from the dead , and gives me forgiveness for my sins and eternal salvation. I believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh as your Word declares it in the Bible in Colossians 1:15-19
"15 Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,16for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him. 17He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead.f So he is first in everything.
19For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross."
So, Jesus, I accept you as King over my Heart, as my personal Saviour and I pray for you to please give me the new Spirit you promised to make me a new person. I know you will work in me from now on through all the days of my life. I believe what your Word says that "I am certain that God, who began the good work within me, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." Thank you Jesus for your salvation and for making me a new creation!
If you prayed this prayer with faith in your heart, you have been saved. You are now a child of God, a citizen of Heaven called to served and live in a Kingdom of Heaven Culture among this world. A Father's Blessing: Isaac
Life Lessons from Ordinary People Series III - Isaac
Genesis 27:25-34 25 Then he said, “My son, bring me some of your game to eat, so that I may give you my blessing.” Jacob brought it to him and he ate; and he brought some wine and he drank. 26 Then his father Isaac said to him, “Come here, my son, and kiss me.” 27 So he went to him and kissed him. When Isaac caught the smell of his clothes, he blessed him and said, “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed. 28 May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness— an abundance of grain and new wine. 29 May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.” 30 After Isaac finished blessing him, and Jacob had scarcely left his father’s presence, his brother Esau came in from hunting. 31 He too prepared some tasty food and brought it to his father. Then he said to him, “My father, please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may give me your blessing.” 32 His father Isaac asked him, “Who are you?” “I am your son,” he answered, “your firstborn, Esau.” 33 Isaac trembled violently and said, “Who was it, then, that hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it just before you came and I blessed him—and indeed he will be blessed!” 34 When Esau heard his father’s words, he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me—me too, my father!”
The main theme on this message is the glue that holds a family together; A meaningful touch, words of affection and love, assuring people of their value, and picturing a glorious future.

Lives of ordinary people - Ezra
Scripture: Ezra 7:6 - 10 6 Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him. 7 Some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers and temple servants, also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes. 8 Ezra arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month of the seventh year of the king. 9 He had begun his journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month, and he arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month, for the gracious hand of his God was on him. 10 For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.
Themes: the journey of life in Christ, strength for the journey, God’s grace and favour, power of God’s word
Summary: This sermon is an overview of the qualities that helped Ezra succeed in his return to Israel along with 3000 other exiles to re-establish proper worship among the Jews.

Our tongues direct our lives, they can destroy our lives and the lives of others, and our words show what is our hearts.
SCRIPTURE: James 3:1-12 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body,sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
THEMES:
- managing our tongues and words
- being careful with our words as they can be a burning fire
- If our words reflect a needy heart, we need a heart transplant.

There’s no magical handbook for how to be a successful adult. We are all just doing our best to make good decisions and deal with things as they come along. Researchers from Cornell University found that adults make an estimated average of 226.7 decisions each day just on food alone and it’s estimated that the average adult makes about 35,000 remotely conscious decisions each day.
James tells us that if we lack wisdom – if we need it – we should ask.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt." James 1:8-9a
"Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord. Jeremiah" 29:12-14a
"So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well- adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you." Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)
